The Superb Bird-of-paradise



The Superb Bird-of-paradise is small (23-26cm) bird. It is sole member of the Paradisaeidea family, Laphorina genus. The Superb Bird-of-paradise can be found in rainy forests and mountains of New Guinea. Weight of average bird is about 85 g. Sexual dimorphism is common in this genus.(difference between genders) You can eaili differ male bird from female by its plumage and appearance. Male is black with colorful green crown on the breast. It’s back is covered with long velvet plumage, that reminds you cape. Female bird is reddish-brown, it has brownish buff below. Young birds look like female. Diet ratio includes different seeds and fruits, also little insects.
